Hello! I’m Rhubyn.
I’m a student from Lincolnshire, Illinois, with a strong interest in both the sciences and the arts. My passion for chemistry extends beyond the classroom into my ceramics practice, where I experiment with glazes and explore the connections between chemical principles and artistic expression. What started as a ceramics elective quickly grew into a sustained commitment: independent study, weekend studio work, and a growing portfolio of pottery that reflects both technical skill and creativity.
I also dedicate much of my time to tutoring younger students in science. Partnering with middle school teachers, I support students who may not otherwise have access to one-on-one help, offering guidance in chemistry, physics, and math. I find the most fulfillment in breaking down complex problems into clear, approachable steps. When I engage in authentic work, I not only strengthen my own learning, but can also better help others.
Outside of school and the studio, I value time with my grandparents and love exploring Chicago’s cultural landscape, from concerts and plays to museum exhibitions. Whether I’m at the pottery wheel, in the classroom, or working with students, I approach challenges with patience, curiosity, and a willingness to step outside my comfort zone.
